The 2013 Alex Award winners--what they are and how to sell them to young adults--are highlighted in this panel presentation. Winning authors Juliana Baggott (Pure); Derf Backderf (My Friend Dahmer); and Robin Sloan (Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore) will speak about their books and the award. Each author has a limited number of complimentary books to sign after the program. The Alex Award is given to the top 10 books that appeal to young adults, and is administered by YALSA and sponsored by the Margaret Alexander Edwards Trust and Booklist.

The announcement and presentation of the second Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction, ALA’s only single-book awards for adult trade fiction and nonfiction, will be followed by a dessert and drinks reception.
