New and experienced External Review Panelist (ERP) pool members are invited to attend a training session on the role of ERP members in the ALA accreditation process. Participation is a prerequisite for serving on a review panel. Participants will learn about the comprehensive review process, hear from experienced panelists, and work in a group to analyze a sample Program Presentation. This year’s training will focus on Standard III: Faculty of the Standards for Accreditation. Currently assigned ERPs are especially encouraged to attend. Program heads who want to learn more about the accreditation process are welcome to attend as observers.

New and experienced reviewers are encouraged to attend this session featuring Mary Berry, Chair of the NCATE Coordinating Committee, and Elizabeth Vilky, Director of Program Review for NCATE. Reviewers will learn about the NCATE/CAEP program review process, the 2010 AASL Standards for Initial Preparation of School Librarians, writing and reviewing reports, and appropriate assessments. Attendees will study a sample report and participate in a review exercise. Program report writers are welcome to attend as observers.

This is a workshop that will help academic business librarians to identify how they can be involved in the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation process with colleges of business administration. Dr Dan LeClair, VP and Chief Knowledge Officer, leader of AACSB International, will give a presentation regarding academic business school accreditation changes and the way in which the library can be involved in the process. The workshop will address how the library can support business schools through the accreditation process. It will facilitate discussion between AACSB and academic business librarians on the future of this relationship. ALA Accreditation Appeal Process Training Orientation Session Hilton Chicago

Description :

Experienced External Review Panelists (two or more on-site visits) and LIS faculty are invited to learn about the updated accreditation appeal process. People who complete this training will be eligible to serve on an Appeal Review Committee in the event of an appeal. People serving on panels where the accreditation decision could result in an appeal (initial accreditation review or review of program on conditional status) are especially encouraged to attend. The training will cover grounds for appeal, how determinations are made, and the appeal process timeline as documented in Section IV of the Accreditation Process, Policies, and Procedures (AP3).
