The San Diego Public Library, Serra Cooperative Library System, LIBROS, Reforma, San Diego State University, Friends of the Logan Heights Library, and ABIBAC (Baja California Library Association) collaborated to plan a conference in San Diego, CA on January 13th and 14th 2012. The Serra Cooperative Library System and the San Diego Public Library received a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the California State Library to host the conference. Organizers presented a poster session at the American Library Association’s 2012 conference in Anaheim, and presented programs at the 2012 ABIBAC conference. The San Diego Public Library and the Serra Cooperative Library System received another grant to hold the conference in March 2013. Titled Sequimos Creando Enlaces, the conference will focus on International collaborations and how to successfully evaluate programming services based on community market analysis on both sides of the border. A highlight is a project between the Logan Heights Library in San Diego, and the Tijuana Bibliobus with the Cecyte School. The poster will show how teenage students from the Logan Heights Library and Cecyte exchange videos about how they use and view their libraries, how technology plays a role in their daily lives and how they discovered similarities and differences in their lives and communities on both sides of the border. The poster will show the visit of students from Cecyte School to the Logan Heights Library, where students will participate in an activity and personalize their online video project.
